Waltham St Lawrence Sunday
Side took on Valley End from Surrey in the Village knock
out cup last Sunday. From the very moment the opposition
arrived WSL knew they were going to be in for a tough
afternoon as the visitors went through their rigorous
fielding drills.
Connor won his second toss of the weekend and elected
to bat. After pulling the third ball for four Ray Hussain
was soon back in the pavilion after been given out LBW.
Woolford was to follow in the same way as both umpires
had a field day. Cox's stay lasted barely a minute as
he went LBW and just as he started to look comfortable
Sharpe top edged Young to gulley.
Connor was next in and together with some lusty hitting
from Raja took the score on. This was about it for the
WSL batting as both were out in quick succession and
with a couple more quacks the Waltham innings limped
to a sorry 70 all out.
In return Valley lost opener Durant for 6 but in spite
of some spirited bowling from Raja, Arif and Rasool
Valley coasted to an easy victory. So dreams of a Lords
final are over for another season and Waltham can concentrate
on the league now. |
