Hangovers make Waltham Suffer

A post parrandial Waltham St Lawrence team limped and spluttered to defeat in a seriously inept display of cricket. Following the heavy nights drinking involving everybody except Matt "my body is a temple" Nebbett, the WSL team drew lots to ascertain the batting order and Woolford duly opened the innings with Matt Trudgill.

However, at the bowling end was David Railton who had missed the party and what a mismatch this served up as he probed away outside off stump cleaning up Woolford then having Trudgill caught behind as he looked to move the innings forward. Harris then played a little cameo for 13 and Thompson and Thomas dug in for the Saints in face of some good bowling from Gosling, Eke and Cornwall Jones.

Eventually Thompson was out for a well made 19 and Thomas soon followed for a 26 ball 2. Monon and Owen followed cheaply as Waltham were collapsing. Connor and Burge put on 40 for the 9th Wicket to give some respectability to the score but as Kiani flayed wlidly at a Ben Yeo delivery, the Waltham players innings folded for a lowly 113.

During the break Railton ensured the players that they were in with a chance but in spite of early wickets a large stand and some poor bowling ensured a comprehensive win for the Trustees to the delight of the WSL players who all promptly went home to sleep.

Congratulations to the Trustees and see you all next year.
