A third defeat capped a truly
disappointing weekend of pre-season cricket as the Sunday
XI crumbled to a lowly 104 all out after been put into
bat against Braywood. Waltham struggled to create any
partnerships of meaning and only whilst Johnson (36)
and Cox (25) were at the crease did they look like scoring
a useful total. The last four wickets tumbled for a
meagre 4 runs and Waltham had it all to do in the field.
As it was Waltham's bowlers couldn't seem to create
enough pressure to force the Braywood batsmen to take
any risks and aided by a massive 25 extras in only 18.5
overs the opposition strolled to an easy victory the
highlight being a half century from Wing and a major
on field strop by Langley who, on being given out refused
to walk then decided to punt his bat much to the dismay
of his foot. When he had finally retrieved his bat from
the two yards he managed to propel it, he finally left
the field to the astonishment of all Waltham players. |
