Rain prevented Waltham St Lawrence
2nd XI from atoning for the debacle in the corresponding
fixture as only 37 overs were bowled in the gloom. Ruislip
arrived full of confidence and after winning the toss
put WSL into bat.
The newly reformed opening partnership of Connor and
Trudgill set about building a platform in difficult
conditions and in the face of some accurate bowling.
Trudgill, playing his first game since Rusilip away
had an early let off as he was dropped of his first
ball.
However, just as he was beginning to re-find his feet
he was caught attempting a drive to mid-off. The big
hitting Harris was in next and he took no time in dispatching
the ball for six in to the field. He and Connor took
the score to 47 until Connor lost his off stump to a
beautiful leg cutter from Khan.
This brought England to the wicket and he was immediately
into his stride driving well on a tricky wicket. Bridgeman
soon joined him as Harris departed but this proved to
be a worthy partnership as the score began to accelerate
till Bridgeman holed out to mid-wicket.
Burge went cheaply and then the rains came and the match
after much debate and speculation was abandoned leaving
everybody frustrated. |
