Waltham were made to suffer in the early June
sunshine as League Leaders Berkshire County Sports rattled
up 269 for 6 in their allotted 45 overs. After losing
the toss on a good pitch Waltham were rewarded for some
good early bowling by Woolford as he trapped Draper
LBW. Rush was next to go in a hurry as Burge induced
an edge and he was well caught by Christodolou behind
the stumps.
County sports were now 53 - 2 from 13 overs and Waltham
seemed in with a shout until Chamberlain came in and
built a classy, composed innings . He was joined later
by Sadiq who was merciless on Connor and Nebbett spanking
them to all parts of the ground. Burge finally returned
to pick up Chamberlain for 101 and Neveed snared Sadiq
87 LBW but in spite of a fine bowling effort by Burge
3 -55 Waltham struggled.
So set 270 for an unlikely Waltham started in awful
fashion with Kiani and Naveed both falling for ducks.
Within a few overs Waltham were in disarray at 13 for
4. Haseeb and Connor then shared a reasonable partnership
to steady the ship but once both were out the lower
order quacked again and Waltham were all out for 76.
Six people were added to the duck gallery on a bad day for the Saints. |
