For the second week running
Waltham made life difficult for themselves as they struggled
for runs on a pitch which had yielded 440 runs the previous
day for the fall of only 6 wickets. After winning the
toss Waltham batted first but against some short pitched
bowling they struggled early on and the pressure told
as a mix up between Connor and Owen meant Connor was
run out. Owen followed in the next over caught at backward
of point.
Kiani continued his fluent form until he mistimed a
cut shot and was caught in the gully. In the meantime
Gareth Johnson was playing a gem of an innings based
on sublime timing and placement he took his score past
50. Bridgeman was also looking in good form until he
was given out LBW. The tail failed to wag for Waltham
and when Johnson was finally out for an excellent 63,
the innings slipped away and WSL had posted 119.
After tea Waltham set about Prescold with
avengence. Johnson bowled a tidy line and length and
was unluck as Debois edged him over the slips in the
3rd over. Bridgeman at the other end was looking dangerous
and he bowled D Rosier then had King LBW.
Johnson picked up the wicket of Haughton and in
his next over Bridgeman had Prescold rocking as he snared
his 3rd wicket. However, in the space of two overs the
match changed. Horne gave 2 chances and both were dropped.
Some wayward bowling followed and Prescold, after being
under pressure only minutes before coasted home to a
comfortable victory.
